Cape Girardeau County shooting suspect arrested in Cleveland
CLEVELAND, Ohio., (KBSI) — A 44-year-old man wanted for homicide in Cleveland and a shooting in Missouri was arrested early Wednesday by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.
Anthony Conner was taken into custody without incident at an apartment in the 1400 block of Crestline Avenue in Cleveland. A handgun with an extended magazine was recovered at the scene.
Conner was wanted by the Cleveland Division of Police for a homicide on Dec. 28, 2024, and by authorities in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri, for a home invasion and shooting on Dec. 18, 2023.
In the Missouri incident, Conner allegedly shot a female victim while her children were present, leading to charges of domestic assault, possession of a firearm and endangering children.
Conner was featured as the Fugitive of the Week on Jan. 27, and tips from the public helped lead to his arrest.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott praised the public’s help, saying, “This is a violent individual causing terrible harm in two different states. We are thankful to the public who called in tips after seeing this fugitive in the media.”
The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is composed of multiple federal, state and local agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service, Cleveland Police Department and Ohio State Highway Patrol.
