Cape Girardeau Fire Department learning about technical tool for rescues
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The Cape Girardeau Fire Department is keeping up to date with the tools that firefighters use when it comes to technical rescues.
A representative from a Paratech supplier visited the Cape Girardeau Fire Department to teach them how to use new tools and provide new ways to use the tools they already have. Captain Bryan Stroer says that the tools they use for technical rescues are important for situations that involve structural or trench collapses, vehicle stabilization and lifting heavy machinery. “It’s all important to have different options and different ways of doing things,” said Storer. Captain Zach Schneider says safety is always top priority when it comes to fire and technical rescues. “This is not commonly used equipment it is with very specified technical aspects of incidents that we deal with, they do not get used on a daily basis so the fact that we know how to properly use them and take care of them we’ll make sure that when we do use them they’ll be handled the proper way,” said Schneider. With the new information in mind, the Cape Girardeau Fire Department will now focus on training with the new techniques and information so they are ready to respond to their next emergency.
