Cape Girardeau firefighters extinguish residential fire on South Henderson Street

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Cape Girardeau Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire at an unoccupied home in the 100 block of South Henderson Street at about 4:16 p.m. Feb. 3.
Firefighters arrived to find fire on the third floor with extension into the roof area, according to the department. Incident command was established, and crews began suppression efforts while conducting a primary search of the home, confirming no occupants were inside.
The fire was brought under control within about 30 minutes of the department’s arrival. Fire damage was primarily confined to the second- and third-floor walls and the roof area.
Crews remained on scene for approximately an hour to conduct overhaul operations and ensure all hot spots were extinguished.
No injuries were reported. The fire was determined to be unintentional.
