Cape Girardeau Firefighters’ Union says contract talks at impasse

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Cape Girardeau firefighters’ union says negotiations with the city have stalled after nearly four years without a contract.

The union accuses the city of dismissing firefighters’ concerns and public safety needs, instead bringing “unrealistic proposals” to the negotiating table.

The union warns that the impasse may prompt firefighters to seek jobs elsewhere and is calling on the community to urge city leaders to prioritize public safety and negotiate in good faith.
