Cape Girardeau law enforcement mourns death of longtime chaplain Fr. John Harth

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Law enforcement agencies in Cape Girardeau are mourning the loss of longtime chaplain Fr. John Harth.
The Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office and Cape Girardeau Police Department said Harth died earlier this week. He served as chaplain for many years, offering guidance, support and comfort to deputies, officers and their families.
Officials described Harth as a steady presence during both difficult situations and moments of reflection, noting his impact extended across multiple departments and throughout the community.
Both agencies expressed gratitude for his service and asked the public to keep his family, friends and those he supported in their thoughts.
