Cape Girardeau man accused of conspiracy to commit murder with inmate

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — A Cape Girardeau man charged with multiple felonies in a 2023 rape case is now accused of conspiracy to commit murder and first-degree assault.
Adam Kerr, 42, is being held without bond in the Stoddard County Jail.
Kerr was initially arrested in October 2023 on nine felony counts, including rape, sodomy and armed criminal action.
Court documents allege Kerr tried to hire another inmate to kill someone connected to his rape case, with the goal of “securing his freedom.”
He told them to memorize a layout of a plan he drew and told the inmate to destroy it after.
Recorded conversations between Kerr and the second inmate detailed a plan to use fentanyl to kill the unnamed person and make it appear as an accidental overdose.
A case review is scheduled for Feb. 4.
