Cape Girardeau man arrested after police say he tried to remove door from home

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – A Cape Girardeau man was arrested after police say he tried to remove a door off a woman’s home.

Justin Dell Jarvis faces charges one count of attempted burglary first degree.

Law enforcement responded to a burglary in Cape Girardeau County on Monday, June 24 around 9:46 p.m.

The victim told Jarvis walked onto the front porch and started yelling he knew someone was in there. The victim said Jarvis opened the screen door and tried to open the front door. Then, the victim told police he tried to remoe the door hinges from the front door to get inside the home.

That’s when the victim called authorities.

Authorities arrived before Jarvis gained complete entry into the home.

The victim told law enforcement she had never seen Jarvis before even though he claimed he live there.
