Cape Girardeau man arrested after traffic stop altercation

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) – Early Sunday morning, an officer attempted to pull over a vehicle for a traffic violation near Sprigg and Independence streets.

At approximately 12:15 a.m. on September 30, the vehicle stopped in a parking lot near William and Sprigg streets. The driver, 42-year-old Archie Boyer of Cape Girardeau, was taken into custody.

Boyer has been formally charged by the Cape Girardeau County Prosecutor’s Office with:

– Class E felony interfering with a lawful stop
– Class A misdemeanor driving while license was suspended

He is currently being held on a $25,000 cash bond.

The Cape Girardeau Police Department handled the arrest.
