Cape Girardeau man arrested, charged with firearms offenses

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Darrell Houston III, 26, of Cape Girardeau was arrested Wednesday and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, a Class C felony, and unlawful use of a weapon, a Class E felony.

According to the Cape Girardeau Police Department, officers responded to a report of a weapon violation in the 1400 block of North Missouri Avenue on Tuesday at approximately 4 p.m. The victim alleged that Houston pointed a firearm at them before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

Houston was taken into custody during a traffic stop near Broadway and Spanish on Wednesday at about 10:30 a.m. He is being held on a $25,000 cash/surety bond.

Houston is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The Cape Girardeau Police Department reminds the public that an offense charge is merely an accusation.
