Cape Girardeau man charged after nearly 1 kilogram of suspected meth seized

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — A Cape Girardeau man faces drug trafficking and firearm charges after authorities executed a search warrant Tuesday morning.

Members of the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team and Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force executed the warrant around 6:26 a.m. at a home in the 800 block of South Sprigg Street as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.

Investigators said they found and detained 35-year-old Jordan Isiah Lawrence inside the home.

During searches of the residence and Lawrence’s vehicles, investigators said they seized about 968 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 6 grams of suspected crack cocaine. Authorities said both substances tested positive in field tests and the reported weights include packaging.

Investigators also reported finding suspected ecstasy pills, three digital scales, a Ruger 9 mm handgun with a magazine containing 10 rounds and $4,686 in cash.

The Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Lawrence with second-degree trafficking, delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm.

A judge issued an arrest warrant Tuesday and set Lawrence’s bond at $75,000 cash only.

Lawrence remains in the custody of the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office.

The charges are accusations. Lawrence is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
