Cape Girardeau man charged with assault after alleged gun attack
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) — A Cape Girardeau man has been charged with assault after allegedly striking another person in the head with a firearm, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. Thursday on Good Hope Street, according to police. The victim reported that 34-year-old Brandon Blagg hit him with a gun, causing a severe head wound.
Blagg, who has prior felony convictions and is prohibited from possessing firearms, was taken into custody approximately six hours later on Emerald Street.
“The victim was treated for the laceration to his head and appears to be doing okay,” Bobby Newton, public information officer with the Cape Girardeau police department said.
Authorities have not yet determined a motive for the attack. Blagg now faces multiple charges, though details on his court appearance have not yet been released.
