Cape Girardeau man with multiple firearms arrested in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) -A Cape Girardeau man faces charges after allegedly having several firearms with no firearm owner’s identification card.

On December 28, 2024, at 2:00 a.m., officers of the City of Carbondale Police Department say were in the 700 block of East Grand Avenue when they investigated a vehicle whose driver was excessively revving its engine causing a disturbance.

After making contact with the driver who was identified as Jaywhun M. Presberry, age 24 of Cape Girardeau, Missouri officers say they saw a firearm inside the vehicle in plain view. During the course of the investigation, officers located two additional firearms inside the vehicle along with several rounds of ammunition for all three weapons.

Presberry was identified as the owner of the firearms and was arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Unlawful Use of a Weapon – No Firearm Owners Identification Card.

Presberry was taken to the Jackson County Jail and may have additional charges pending. 

 The investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.
