Cape Girardeau Police Department kicks off new podcast

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The Cape Girardeau Police Department started a podcast Tuesday, August 15 as a way to better connect with the community.

Public Information Officer Bobby Newton is the brains behind the new neighborhood podcast after brainstorming of a way to expand community engagement.

“I thought the podcast would just be another avenue for them to stay in the loop on what we do on a day to day basis. Along with providing feedback as well,” said Newton.

The first episode featured Cape Girardeau Police Chief Wes Blair.

“Chief Blair kind of gives the stance of where the department’s at and the direction we’re moving to, going forward,” said Newton.

According to Newton, the podcast will air every two weeks on Tuesday mornings for 20-30 minutes.

“They can find us on Spotify, and then also on Podbean and we’re working on rolling it out on Apple as well,” said Newton.

The department also plans to touch on various topics that will relate to safety within every neighborhood.
