CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – After a break from the podcasting world, the Cape Girardeau Police Department is returning to the airwaves with a relaunched community podcast designed to connect officers and residents through conversation.
The department announced that Patrolman Newton and Patrolman Smelser will serve as the new co-hosts, bringing listeners fresh episodes every other Thursday beginning Sept. 18. The officers will lead discussions on a wide range of topics, including department news, public safety initiatives, and personal stories from those who serve the community.
“We’re excited to be back and to reconnect with the public in this way,” the department said in a release. “This podcast gives us another opportunity to be transparent, answer questions, and share information directly with the people we serve.”
Episodes will be available on major podcast platforms and will feature interviews with officers, community partners, and guests who can provide insight into public safety issues and the daily work of policing.
The department said the podcast is intended to strengthen relationships between officers and the community while giving residents an inside look at the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
