Cape Girardeau police investigating shots fired

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Cape Girardeau police are investigating after two shots were fired Wednesday night.

Cape Girardeau police officers responded to the 400-block of North Kingshighway at 10:02 p.m. on May 22 for a reported armed robbery with reports of shots fired.

Officers saw a black male walking south away from the area.

Police say the male refused to stop for officers’ commands and began to run away on foot.

After a brief foot chase, he was arrested.

Officers made contact with the victim at the scene. The victim said that while in his/her vehicle at an ATM, he/she was approached by the alleged suspect.

The victim said he/she believed the alleged suspect intended to cause harm so the victim showed a firearm and fired two rounds in the direction of the alleged suspect.

No one was injured.

Charges have been applied for through the Cape Girardeau Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
