CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — K9 Yuki, a canine officer with the Cape Girardeau Police Department, underwent emergency surgery Wednesday after his handler noticed he was unable to urinate.

Veterinarians at La Croix Pet Hospital diagnosed a complete urethral blockage caused by bladder stones.

Dr. Ann Seabaugh and her team performed the surgery, successfully clearing the blockage and removing multiple stones.

K9 Yuki is now recovering at home with his handler.

The police department expressed gratitude to Dr. Seabaugh and the La Croix team for their life-saving efforts.
