Cape Girardeau police launch ‘Blue Envelope’ Program to support community members with disabilities

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Cape Girardeau Police Department held a kickoff event Tuesday for the new Blue Envelope Program, an initiative designed to improve communication and safety between law enforcement and individuals with disabilities.
The department is partnering with several local organizations, including the SEMO Alliance for Disability Independence, Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri, Grace Reliant Health Services, and The Tailor Institute, among others, to help distribute program materials and resources.
Blue Envelope materials will not be distributed at the Cape Girardeau Police Department headquarters. Instead, they will be available through participating partner agencies.
The department expressed gratitude to all individuals and organizations represented at the kickoff event and emphasized its commitment to ensuring the program serves the needs of the entire community.
