Cape Girardeau Police mourn loss of K9 Officer Yuki

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Cape Girardeau Police Department is mourning the loss of K9 Officer Yuki, who died Thursday after complications from emergency surgery.

Yuki, a dual-purpose German Shepherd, served the department since January 2020, specializing in tracking, suspect apprehension and narcotics detection.

His work was instrumental in removing dangerous drugs from the community, making Cape Girardeau a safer place.

Yuki’s handler, Patrolman Droddy, is grieving the loss of his loyal partner and protector.

The department is asking the community to keep Droddy in their thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of Yuki, who served with honor and will not be forgotten.
