Cape Girardeau Police remind drivers to keep traffic moving ahead of 7 Brew opening

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) — As excitement builds for the opening of 7 Brew in Cape Girardeau, police are reminding drivers to help keep traffic moving around one of the city’s busiest intersections.

The coffee chain is preparing for several opening events, including:

• July 24-26: Caffeine for a Cause
• July 27: Ribbon cutting
• Aug. 3: Soft opening
• Aug. 8: Grand opening

Ahead of the opening, the Cape Girardeau Police Department is reminding drivers not to block traffic while waiting to enter the drive-thru.

“If traffic starts backing up into the roadway, we’d ask people to circle the block or come back a little later,” said Officer Bobby Newton, public information officer for the Cape Girardeau Police Department. “We don’t want vehicles stopped in the roadway creating a hazard for other drivers.”

The new coffee stand is located near the intersection of Kingshighway and William Street, an area Newton said officers already patrol regularly because of heavy traffic.

Newton said officers will continue monitoring the area throughout the opening events to help keep traffic moving safely.

Drivers are encouraged to follow officers’ directions and avoid stopping in the roadway if the drive-thru line becomes congested.
