Cape Girardeau police wrap up Citizen’s Academy
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Cape Girardeau’s citizens now know what it takes to wear a badge.
Cape Girardeau police just wrapped up the Citizen’s Academy with stunt scenarios, instructive process, and one on ones with officers. Attendess learned what it is really like to be on the force.
Corporal Brett Bellman with the Cape Girardeau Police Department says the academy can teach not only the public, but officers as well.
“I think when people understand, what we go through, we can learn from each other,” said Cpl. Bellman. “Honestly, they can learn kind of how we do things, and we can also learn from the citizens. We can kind of get a different perspective from them and see what they feel like, what they go through in situations like this. It’s a good thing all around just let everybody know what each other’s doing.”
In addition to the scheduled classes, a “ride-along” with patrol officers will be made available to those wishing to do so.
