Cape Girardeau Public library to host Welcome Back Bash for teens

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The Cape Girardeau Public library is holding a special event to help teens get back into the swing of a new school year with the “Welcome Back Bash.”

Youth Services Associate Allie Boyer says this event is important to help remind teens about the library.

“So, the teenage group is really crucial because you know we focus a lot on younger readers and we kind of lose people using the library once they hit the teenage years and then they forget about it in the adult. So it’s really important to build those connections with 12 to 18-year-olds so that they remember all the valuable resources that are in the library,” said Boyer.

The “Welcome Back Bash” will be held at the library Wednesday, Aug. 31 from 4 to 5 p.m.

It is open to kids ages 12- 18.

In addition to learning about the library, there will be free food and a chance to simply hang out.
