Cape Girardeau Public Schools central office remains closed after water damage

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Cape Girardeau Public Schools Central Office will remain closed to the public Thursday as cleanup efforts continue following water damage caused by heavy rainfall earlier this week.

District officials said water leaked into the front office and reception area when storms moved through Cape Girardeau on Monday.

Photos shared by the district show ongoing cleanup work inside the building.

School officials said they hope to reopen the office on Friday and will provide updates as cleanup and restoration efforts continue.

The district also thanked its maintenance staff for assisting with the recovery efforts.
