Cape Girardeau Public Schools to host interviews for 2 superintendent candidates
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The Cape Girardeau Public Schools Board of Education will host interviews for the superintendent position on Tuesday, Feb. 28.
“We are very excited to have two highly-qualified candidates to interview for this position,” said Matthew Welker, CGPS Board President. “We as a board understand how important this role is to our entire Cape community, and are committed to finding a leader who will continue to operate with a students-first mindset.”
The board of eduction began taking applications for superintendent on February 1 after Dr. Neil Glass announcement his retirement in January. Glass will continue to serve as superintendent until the end of June.
Timeline of Superintendent Search
January:
- Jan. 30 – Board approves process to hire a new superintendent, elects to conduct its own search
February:
- Feb. 1 – Job is posted (TalentEd on the District website, MASA, MOASPA, and MOREAP websites)
- Feb. 9 – Executive session to determine next steps, identify potential dates for interviews
- Feb. 13 – Deadline for all applicant materials
- Feb. 16 – Interviews confirmed with finalists
- Feb. 28 – Conduct interviews
- March – Contract awarded
- TBD- Meet and greet opportunities with the new superintendent
