Cape Girardeau to celebrate Juneteenth with community event June 20

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — VisitCape is inviting the community to take part in a Juneteenth celebration on June 20.

The event will honor freedom, culture and history, commemorating the day when the last enslaved people in the United States learned of their freedom.

Organizers say the celebration will also recognize the resilience and contributions of Black Americans.

Attendees can expect live entertainment, local vendors and food, along with opportunities for reflection and community engagement.

Officials encourage residents to bring friends and family to participate in the day’s events.
