Cape Girardeau Walk to End Alzheimer’s set for Saturday at Capaha Park

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The annual Cape Girardeau Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place Saturday, Oct. 11, at Capaha Park and Field, 1400 Broadway St.
Registration opens at 8 a.m., followed by an opening ceremony at 9 a.m., with the walk beginning immediately afterward.
More than 200 participants across 60 teams are expected to take part in the event, many wearing purple and personalized shirts honoring loved ones affected by Alzheimer’s or dementia. The walk route will feature colorful, flower-shaped pinwheels symbolizing the fight to end Alzheimer’s.
Interview opportunities will be available with participants sharing their personal stories and with Alzheimer’s Association officials discussing local programs and services funded by the event.
