Cape Girardeau welcomes electric car show

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. (KBSI) – Cape Girardeau welcomes the Jack to the Future electric car show by the Cape Girardeau Casino today. The event was picked up last year as they welcomed the electric cars in the area and around the map.
We talked to one of the event coordinators and the Director of Energy Brian Noto about the car show, he says.
“The car show portion we put on a convention basically so some of these cars came from and the attendees came from all over the world.”
Noto says, ” this year, we decided to expand the car show to more of the local consumers. They’ve always come to the car show, but we promoted it a lot more locally, we’re involved in the electric vehicle business grid solar power battery back up and also we are Tesla charging partners so we can sell Tesla charging stations.”
The electric car show known as Jack to the future welcomed many different vehicles and viewers from across the U.S.
It also featured some custom made electric vehicles like engineer Kevin Smiths electric vehicle.
We talked to Smith about his vehicle known as Seven, he explains its impressive resume.
“We beat Tesla in the automotive xprize. however they did beat us in business. ”
Smith tells us that his “car seven is EPA rated at 207 miles per gallon equivalent and has a top speed of 130(MPH) zero to 60 at 6 1/2 seconds is a four-door goldwing car, completely custom built from the ground up. It’s a carbon fiber and Kevlar body on a steel tooth frame.”
We asked Noto what his message is for people who are unsure about electric vehicles all together, he says.
“Electric vehicles for a lot of people are kind of a question mark, and they don’t know a lot about them and you know it in California New York, Washington, Arizona, Texas places like that there’s a lot of them so the adoption has been has been higher than it has here.
but there are 150 or 160 electric vehicles registered in Cape Girardeau county we’re seeing more and more so dealers came out from Marion from Sappington showing off some other electric vehicles from Moreland so we’re trying to get people. The best thing is if people come and experience electric vehicle can take some test drives. They can talk to owners of electric vehicles, were just hoping that they maybe it might not be for them yet, but maybe it will.”
