Cape Girardeau youth organizations receive more than $74,000 in grants

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Two Cape Girardeau youth organizations have received a combined $74,490 through the Taco Bell Foundation’s Community Grants program.
The Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Missouri received $66,000 for its summer camp program. Junior Achievement in Southeast Missouri’s Cape Girardeau branch received $8,490 for its career readiness program.
The grants will support programs providing young people with work experience, mentorship, career preparation and opportunities to build skills and confidence.
Local Taco Bell franchise groups K-MAC Enterprises and W&M Restaurants helped direct the funding to the two organizations. The grants were celebrated with check presentations Sept. 10 involving restaurant employees, nonprofit leaders and local youth.
“We’re proud to continue partnering with W&M Restaurants and the Taco Bell Foundation to support organizations that are making a difference in the lives of young people in Cape Girardeau,” K-MAC Enterprises CEO Tina Reagan said.
The grants are funded in part by Taco Bell customers who round up their order totals through the company’s Round Up program.
The Taco Bell Foundation is awarding $32 million in Community Grants to more than 700 nonprofit organizations nationwide. The foundation said the number of participating nonprofit partners increased by 40% from last year.
Since 1992, the foundation has awarded more than $278 million in grants and scholarships focused on education and career readiness.
