Cape Police Dept. 3rd annual wellness seminar

Cape Girardeau Police Department Makes Changes To Retirement System

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI)- Cape Girardeau Police officers along with first responders from across the state came together for the 3rd Annual Wellness Conference hosted by the Cape Girardeau Police Department and assisted by Beyond the Badge.

They were able to obtain top notch training about not only their mental wellness but also physical wellness.
According to Shield of Armor Wellness Seminar, more law enforcement officers die by suicide than are killed in the line of duty.

The conference educates first responders on the debilitating effects of PTSD and other mental health issues associated with traumas experienced in their profession.

The Cape Girardeau Police Department is proud to offer their annual seminar targeting first responders, staff and families to break the walls associated with mental health.

The two-day wellness seminar is open to first responders and their families.

Guests will learn the signs and symptoms associated with stress, anxiety and depression.

Information and advice regarding financial planning, health and nutrition will also be available.
Officers will begin to build the shield of armor for how to manage those symptoms that enable a long successful marriage, career and life.
Because “it’s OK to not be OK.”
