Cape Transit Authority appoints new Executive Director

Cape Girardeau, Mo. (KBSI) – Cape Girardeau County Transit Authority has named a new Executive Director.
CGCTA’s five-member board of directors appointed Ginny Smith for the position.
Previously Tom Mogelnicki was the Executive Director.
Mogelnicki is retiring and Smith with step into the position.
Smith has served as the director of operations/safety management for Fredericktown, Missouri-based Southeast Missouri Transit Service (SMTS) since June 2015.
Smith currently oversees on-demand transit services to 21 counties in Southeast Missouri.
Smith graduated from Mineral Area College and is a member of the community involvement committee of Cape Girardeau-based United Way of Southeast Missouri.
“I’m elated at the opportunity to serve as the newly appointed executive director of Cape Girardeau County Transit Authority. I look forward to working alongside current CGCTA employees, community leaders and our riders to improve the public transit system,” said Smith.“While change doesn’t always happen quickly, I’m committed to improving the current service for every citizen of Cape Girardeau County.”

Smith will step in as Executive Director on December 1, 2023.
