Cape’s West Park Mall undergoes transformation with new stores, renovations
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) – Exclusive information tonight about Cape’s new West Park Mall.
The newest stores are set to open by this Summer.
The project is a facelift and expansion on the original site, built in 1980.
We got to see the latest renderings and pictures of what the finished project for this phase of construction will look like.
FOX23’s Holly Brantley got a behind the scenes tour of construction.
Nick Martin of Pilot Construction Solutions and Adam Wachter of Robinson Industrial and Heavy Construction took us inside the six new stores which are nearing completion.
Developers say while there is a lot of construction going on, there is still plenty of space up for grabs.
We got to go inside the new Pet Smart which will have its own entrance from the front side of the mall.
Ulta Beauty will also have its own entrance.
Both stores are set to open this Summer, likely in June.
We also got a look at work happening at Michaels and Carters.
Both of those stores should open early Summer as well.
Sierra and Ross should open in the fourth quarter, sometime in the Fall.
Martin explained the floor and fixtures inside the mall are still original and getting a facelift too.
He also explained the fountain, a well-known spot in the middle of the mall is still there underneath the flooring.
Martin tells us the transformation is just the beginning, and they are working with Pace Properties to attract and negotiate with new stores, restaurants and offices.
Developers are also hoping to attract more local stores and businesses who are interested in setting up shop in the mall.
The new phase also includes the mall’s main front entry.
We should also hear more soon about the next group of stores in the process of signing on.
Overall, the project has added hundreds of construction jobs alone.
