2 rescued after car crashes into creek north of Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Two teenagers were rescued after a car crashed into Cape La Croix Creek on Hwy. W at Perryville Road in Cape Girardeau County north of Cape Girardeau Wednesday evening.

A 17-year-old driver from Jackson sustained serious injuries, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. She was taken to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was driving a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis.

A 16-year-old passenger from Jackson sustained minor injuries in the crash and was taken by private vehicle to Saint Francis Medical Center.

Both people were wearing their seatbelts.

Perryville Road was blocked near the Pilot House restaurant as more than a dozen emergency vehicles responded to the scene.
