Carbondale fire, police departments compete in final week of citywide food drive

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) — The City of Carbondale is entering the final week of its “Share the Love” citywide food drive, with the Carbondale Fire Department reporting its donation bins are full.

Fire Chief Crippen said the department has filled two bins as part of the community effort and issued a friendly challenge to the Carbondale Police Department as the campaign enters its final stretch.

City officials said the food drive is designed to support local families in need and encouraged residents to continue contributing during the final days of collection.

The city said both departments are participating in a friendly competition to see which can collect the most donations before the drive concludes.
