Carbondale launches Small Business Accelerator program

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — The City of Carbondale and the Illinois Small Business Development Center at Southern Illinois University Carbondale have launched the Carbondale Small Business Accelerator Program, offering funding and assistance to local businesses.

The 10-week program provides participants with training, mentorship and resources to launch and grow their startup enterprises. Upon completion, participants will receive $1,250 in startup funding and the opportunity to pitch their business for up to $5,000 in additional funding.

To be eligible, applicants must be at least 18 years old, live in or operate a business in Carbondale, and be planning a startup or have an existing business less than 4 years old.

Applications are due Feb. 13, and classes begin Feb. 20. The program offers flexible formatting, with in-person, virtual or hybrid sessions available.
