Carbondale man arrested after shot fired during dispute

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — An 18-year-old Carbondale man has been arrested and charged after allegedly firing a shot at people during a personal dispute.

Police responded to the 200 block of West College Street on April 26 after a report of a shot fired.

They located the suspect, Deiajion R. Nichols, and his vehicle in the 700 block of West College Street.

Nichols was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon. He was jailed pending a detention hearing.

No one was injured in the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and police encourage anyone with information to contact the Carbondale Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
