Carbondale man arrested for trespassing, firearm charges
CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) – At 1:57 a.m. Tuesday, City of Carbondale police officers found Milik J. Hughes, 29, of Carbondale, trespassing in a public park in the 1200 block of West Pleasant Hill Road.
Hughes was arrested and charged with criminal trespass to real property.
During the arrest, officers discovered Hughes was in possession of a loaded firearm with a defaced serial number and cannabis, violating the Possession Adult Use of Cannabis Act.
Additional charges include aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and defacing identification markings on a firearm.
Hughes is being held at the Jackson County Jail pending a detention hearing.
