Carbondale man charged with filing false report after vehicle crashes into house

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — A 34-year-old Carbondale man has been arrested for filing a false police report after his vehicle crashed into a house.
Aaron Allison was taken into custody after detectives determined he was the driver of the vehicle that crashed into the house on the 500 block of South Forest Street on Nov. 26.
Allison initially reported that his vehicle had been stolen from the 900 block of West Main Street while he was in a store.
However, witnesses reported that the driver of the vehicle fled on foot after the crash.
Detectives investigated and confirmed that Allison was the driver of the vehicle and had fled the scene before returning to report the vehicle stolen.
Allison was charged with false report to a police officer and was released pending a court appearance.
The crash caused a fire to start in the house, but Carbondale firefighters extinguished the flames, and the residents escaped without injury.
