Carbondale man charged with kidnapping juvenile

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – A female juvenile was taken against her will by a Carbondale man.

Chrishon A. Sawyer, 18, of Carbondale was arrested and charged with kidnapping, domestic battery and unlawful restraint.

Officers responded to a report of kidnapping on the 200 block of North Wall Street on June 15 at 3:58 p.m. Multiple officers responded to the scene.

An hour after the report the victim was found. She suffered minor injuries that did not require medical attention.

Sawyer was taken to Jackson County Jail.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
