Carbondale man facing attempted murder charge after man stabbed multiple times

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – Police arrested a man after another man was stabbed multiple times in Carbondale.

Cody W. Simon, 21, of Carbondale, faces attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon charges.

Carbondale police officers responded to the 900 block of East Park Street for a report of a battery in progress at 12:07 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21.

Officers found a victim with multiple stab wounds and began helping.

The victim was taken to the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale and treated for serious injuries.

Simon is accused of stabbing the victim during a personal dispute and left the area before officers arrivied.

Detectives found Simon at a home in the 700 block of South Wall Street at 11:13 a.m. and arrested him.

Simon was taken to the Jackson County Jail.

The investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing.
