Carbondale man facing firearms charges after police say he ran from them

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – A Carbondale man faces firearms charges after police say he had a weapon and ran from them.

Carbondale police officers responded to the 400 block of East College Street at 7:15 p.m. on June 4 for a person who had a firearm.

Officers found Isaiah L. Pryor, 18, of Carbondale.

When Pryor saw the officers, police say he ran away, but was quickly arrested.

Officers found the firearm, which they say had been discarded by Pryor.

Police say the weapon had been reported stolen from a nearby jurisdiction.

Pryor faces charges of unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a stolen firearm and resisting a peace officer.

He was taken to the Jackson County Jail.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
