Carbondale man facing home invasion, weapons, drug charges

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – A Carbondale man faces charges of home invasion with a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and possession of a controlled substance charges.
Andrew Lee Walker Jr., 24, of Carbondale, faces charges of home invasion with a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and possession of a controlled substance.
Carbondale police officers responded to the 3000 block of West Sunset around 2:26 a.m. on Oct. 10 for a report of damage to property.
Police say Walker Jr. forced open the door of the home and was still inside.
Officers say Walker had been armed with a handgun and battered the victim inside the home.
Police arrested Walker and found him to be in possession of a controlled substance and firearm ammunition, according to police.
Officers also recovered a firearm at the scene.
The victim, who is an acquaintance of Walker, received minor injuries that did not require hospitalization.
Walker was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
