Carbondale man facing reckless discharge of a firearm, aggravated domestic battery charges

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – A Carbondale man faces charges after police say he beat a person and fired a handgun in a home.

Officers responded to a home in the 1200 block of West College Street in reference to a disturbance on March 12 at 11:14 a.m.

Officers met with the victim who reported being battered.

Dakota W. Mitchell, 30, faces charges of reckless discharge of a firearm and aggravated domestic battery.

No injuries were reported.

Mitchell was taken to the Jackson County Jail. The investigation is active and ongoing.
