Carbondale man found guilty of multiple firearms crimes

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – A Carbondale man was found guilty of firearms crimes in Jackson County.
Deangelo M. Gray, 27, of Carbondale, was found guilty of one count of armed habitual criminal, one count of felon in possession of a firearm and one count felon in possession of firearm ammunition, according to Jackson County State’s Attorney Joseph A. Cervantez.
In a three-day trial, the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office presented evidence that on Saturday, July 16, 2022, the Carbondale Police Department detained Gray, who had previously been convicted of multiple felonies, for possessing a pistol in the emergency room at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
The investigation was led by the Carbondale Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Sophia M. Allen.
