Carbondale offers curbside Christmas tree recycling through Jan. 30

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — The City of Carbondale Forestry Division is offering its annual curbside Christmas tree recycling program through Jan. 30, 2026.

Residents who want curbside pickup should place their Christmas tree at the curb and contact the Maintenance and Environmental Services Office at 618-457-3275 to schedule collection.

Residents may also dispose of trees themselves at designated neighborhood drop-off locations:

Public Works Complex on North Michaels Street (drop-off at the main gate)

Parrish Park parking lot on West Sunset Drive (east end of the lot)

Attucks Park parking lot on North Wall Street (south parking lot)

Trees must be free of pine rope, wreaths, garlands and decorations. Flocked trees and other noncompliant materials should be discarded with regular household refuse.

Additional information about refuse, recycling, landscape and special programs is available through the city’s Public Works Department.
