Carbondale police arrest 3 after finding loaded firearm

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Three Carbondale residents were arrested Tuesday after a loaded firearm was found during a traffic stop.

According to the City of Carbondale Police Department, officers stopped a vehicle at 11:34 a.m. in the 300 block of East Oak Street for a traffic violation.

Austin B. Dedecker, 19, and Julius J. Word, 20, were taken into custody and jailed pending detention hearings. A 17-year-old juvenile was released to a parent.

The arrests were made for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. The investigation is ongoing.
