Carbondale police arrest juvenile in unlawful use of weapon incident

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — On Nov. 1, 2025, at approximately 2:48 a.m., officers with the City of Carbondale Police Department responded to the 800 block of East Grand Avenue for a report of an unlawful use of a weapon.
According to police, the suspect allegedly threatened a victim with a firearm during a dispute. Officers located the suspect’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, during which they recovered the firearm.
The suspect, identified as a 17-year-old female from Carbondale, was taken into custody and later released to her family pending a court appearance for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. In accordance with the Illinois Juvenile Justice Act, the suspect’s name will not be released.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
