Carbondale police arrest suspect after hit-and-run leaves person critically injured

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — A person was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash Thursday evening, according to the Carbondale Police Department.
Officers responded around 6:48 p.m. to the 600 block of East Campus Drive, where they found an individual who had been struck in what was later determined to be a hit-and-run incident.
The victim was taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale with life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said the suspected vehicle was located abandoned near the crash scene. Officers later identified and arrested Alexis L. Locke, 37, of Carbondale, in connection with the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
