Carbondale police investigate gunfire on W Cherry St; two arrested on unrelated charges

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) – Carbondale Police are investigating a report of gunfire that occurred early Sunday morning in the 400 block of West Cherry Street.

At approximately 12:25 a.m., officers responded after hearing gunshots in the area. As police arrived, several individuals were seen running from the scene. During their investigation, officers located two discarded firearms and spent shell casings.

No injuries were reported, but an abandoned house sustained damage from gunfire.

As a result of the initial investigation, officers arrested Brandon J. Moore, 18, of Oklahoma, for resisting and obstructing a peace officer, and Lanika L. White, 39, of Carbondale, on a Jackson County warrant for driving while license suspended. Both individuals were taken to the Jackson County Jail pending detention hearings.
