Carbondale Police investigate shooting incident, arrest two

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — City police responded to a report of shots fired near North Springer and West High Streets on March 1, 2025, at 9:52 p.m. Several buildings were struck by gunfire, and a dark sedan fled the scene.

A male juvenile with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound arrived at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale at 10:16 p.m.

Police identified the vehicle the victim was in and located it in Carterville.

Tyler S. Grob, 18, of Carterville, was arrested and charged with obstructing justice.

An investigation revealed that a juvenile male occupant in Grob’s vehicle fired a handgun at unknown individuals, who returned fire, striking the occupant.

The juvenile was arrested on March 2, 2025, and taken to a juvenile detention facility.

The investigation is ongoing.
