Carbondale police investigate shots fired on East College Street

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Carbondale police are investigating an early morning report of shots fired near East College Street.

Officers responded at 1:11 a.m. Wednesday to the 500 block of East College Street after hearing gunfire in the area. A search was conducted, but no suspects, victims, or property damage were found, according to the Carbondale Police Department.

A witness told officers they saw an unidentified male wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and carrying a firearm running south in the 500 block of South Logan Street, but the person was not located.

No injuries were reported, and the Illinois State Police assisted in the response.
