Carbondale police investigate two early-morning business burglaries

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Police are investigating two early-morning business burglaries that appear to be related, authorities said.

City of Carbondale police officers responded at 2:54 a.m. Dec. 21, 2025, to a business in the 900 block of West Main Street after a burglary alarm was triggered. Officers determined that suspects had forced entry into the business, causing damage and stealing property. During the investigation, a K-9 track indicated the suspects left the area heading north on North Oakland Avenue.

At about 4:23 a.m., officers were called to a second business in the 500 block of East Main Street following a report of a burglary attempt. Police said three suspects wearing black clothing and white masks caused damage to the business while attempting to gain entry before fleeing on foot. The suspects were last seen heading west.

Police said the two incidents appear to be connected. An image of one suspect dressed in black clothing and wearing a white mask has been released.
